ANTARCTIC DINOSAURS EXHIBIT AND DINO LAB TOUR AT THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM - SEPT. 2019
UChicagoLA Digging a Fun Tour!
The University of Chicago Alumni Club of Los Angeles enjoyed a fun and informative tour of the Antarctic Dinosaurs Exhibit and the dinosaur lab at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles.
Nathan Smith SM'08, PhD'11 was our superb tour guide who not only walked us through his special Antarctic Dinosaurs Exhibit chronicling his own work in Antarctica, but also gave us an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the dinosaur lab at the NHM, where troves of dinosaur fossils are stored and paleontologists work today to study and uncover dinosaur fossils (i.e., where they keep the really cool stuff!). We even got to hold a real Tyrannosaurus rex tooth and see a huge dinosaur femur encrusted with green quartz!
Special thanks to Nathan Smith, a proud UChicago alum and Chicagoland native, for graciously volunteering to give this exclusive tour.
