NEON SIGNS CRUISE
Three-hour guided tour of Los Angeles' neon signs atop a British, double decker bus with the Museum of Neon Art
Los Angeles at night is awash in a sea of light. Our neon signs glow in shape and color, announcing our city’s treasures with delight and imagination. Neon enlivens our city by elevating a business from the mundane to the special, creating branded entities that make the business world seem homey and fun. The Museum of Neon Art is devoted to the appreciation and preservation of the living art gallery that surrounds us.
For three hours, we’ll cruise atop a double decker bus as we appreciate these urban gems that bring character to our districts. Our cruise will include the neon treasure troves of downtown, Chinatown, Hollywood, the Fairfax and Mid-Wilshire.
Our guide will be highly acclaimed J. Eric Lynxwiler. An authority on the history of Los Angeles, Eric has been involved in the authorship and research of three books including research for “Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles; ” and co-authorship of “Knott’s Preserved: From Berry Stand to Theme Park, The History Of Knott’s Berry Farm” and “Spectacular Illumination: Los Angeles Neon 1925–1965.” Now in his twentieth year as a Neon Cruise docent, Eric continues to educate and delight his guests.
