A civilizing influence in our uncivil society with Clare Kunny, AM'84 Art History
Join Clare Kunny, AM'84, for a private tour of J. Paul Getty's Villa in Malibu, where the original Getty Museum opened in 1954, displaying his philosophy that art is a civilizing influence in society. Clare has served as the Head of Public Teaching at the Getty for the past 10 years, prior to which she held the same position during the latter part of her 17 years at the Art Institute of Chicago. Clare earned her Master of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Chicago and has completed doctoral coursework in colonial Mexican art at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has devoted her career to guiding visitors in viewing, thinking about, and discussing the art found in great museums. Clare is an art historian and museum professional with extensive experience developing educational art programs for museum visitors of all ages. (http://www.getty.edu/visit/villa/)
The tour will start at 1 pm at the Getty Villa and should conclude around 3 pm.
The cost of the tour is $30. Please note that there is a parking fee of $20 per car at the Getty Villa that is not included in our $30 tour cost.
