Empathy is no guarantee against limited self-knowledge, false consciousness, hypocrisy, or snakes-in-suits; but, ultimately, empathy is an essential foundation for leadership that empowers all who engage with it. In the webcast the participants will learn how to:

•    Distinguish empathy from compassion, forgiveness, and “niceness”;
•    Establish and maintain boundaries with bullies, slackers, difficult individuals, and friends while still honoring one’s commitment to empathy;
•    Identify failures (breakdowns) in empathy and what to do about it; and
•    Expand or contract empathy on demand by overcoming obstacles to empathy.

agostaphoto2015v4Lou Agosta is one of the top empathy consultants in executive, community, and individual coaching. He is the author of three best selling books on empathy, including Empathy Lessons. He went to college at the UChicago and completed a PhD in the philosophy department (UChicago) with a dissertation entitled Empathy and Interpretation. He is in private practice, working with a variety of organizations and individuals on expanding empathy in the community,  near his home in Chicago, IL (USA).
