The Feather Thief - Book Launch at Natural History Museum of Los Angeles
Interview of Author Kirk Wallace Johnson AB'02, Followed by Q&A and Book Signing
Attend the launch of Kirk Wallace Johnson's (AB'02) new book, The Feather Thief -- a rollicking true-crime adventure about a young American that stole hundreds of rare bird skin specimens from the British Natural History Museum to sell in the black market of high-end salmon fly-tiers. Learn about Johnson's years-long worldwide investigation into the crime and his exploration of the human drive to possess natural beauty. The gripping story of a bizarre and shocking crime, and one man’s relentless pursuit of justice, The Feather Thief is also a fascinating exploration of obsession, and man’s destructive instinct to harvest the beauty of nature.
Kirk will be interviewed at the launch by the Natural History Museum's President, Dr. Lori Bettison-Varga, on The Feather Thief. Their conversation will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. Special Museum collections highlighting this discussion will also be on display between 6-7pm. Books are available for pre-order and purchase night-of the program.
The event will take place on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles.
