Attend a taping of the CBS sit-com SUPERIOR DONUTS (season finale)
Get a behind-the-scenes peek into how Hollywood portrays Chicago on TV, visit the set, and meet the cast
Join a group of UChicago alumni and be a part of the studio audience at the 2nd season finale taping of SUPERIOR DONUTS, the CBS sit-com based on Tracy Letts's play of the same name (which debuted at the Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre ten years ago).
The series revolves around the relationship between Uptown Chicago donut shop owner Arthur (played by Judd Hirsch), his new young employee, Franco (played by Jermaine Fowler), and the shop's various patrons (played by Katey Sagal, David Koechner, and Maz Jobrani, among others). With the donut shop struggling financially, Franco makes suggestions for improvement and modernization to the sometimes reluctant Arthur.
The show has a strong UChicago connection in the person of executive producer and writer Bob Daily (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0197351/), AM'86 English Language and Literature. Bob has graciously secured a block of seats for UChicago/L.A. at this taping, after which he will welcome UChicago alumni onto the set to pose for pictures and meet cast members.
Light refreshments may be served during the taping; after the taping has ended, those interested may go for dinner together at a nearby restaurant.
There is no cost to attend the taping; however, advance registration is required. Information on parking, where to rendezvous on the CBS lot, etc. will be emailed to attendees in the days leading up to the taping.
