The Board of Directors of the University of Chicago Alumni Club of Los Angeles is currently accepting applications from alumni to serve as board members. Candidates should be thoughtful, creative, shown to have been/currently engaged with the University of Chicago community, and strongly committed to strengthening ties among alumni in the Los Angeles area and the University. The two-year term begins in July 2018. Candidates will be selected and notified in early May.
The Board oversees operations and activities for the Alumni Club of Los Angeles. Major responsibilities include meeting four times per year and coordinating a minimum of twelve alumni events in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. There are significant benefits to serving on the Board including:
• Alumni Recognition: Alumni receive recognition for noteworthy achievements and strong support of the University. UChicago annually awards alumni for their service to the University through the Distinguished Alumni Awards.
• Networking: Meet new people, make connections, and enhance relationships at alumni events throughout the year.
• Career Advancement: Opportunities to meet noteworthy alumni who can help guide you on the right path at any point in your career.
• Volunteer Opportunities: Interact with alumni who hail from diverse backgrounds and preserve UChicago's community spirit by participating in the life of the University while you assist students and serve other alumni.
The application period has been extended to Monday, March 19, at midnight. Following the close of the application period, the nomination committee will review all applicants and propose a slate of candidates in early May. At the Alumni Club of Los Angeles open board meeting in May, there will be a vote on the slate.
